You definitely (don't) get what you (don't) pay for.
This furniture is made with the lowest quality particle board. There are several places where you have to drive nails and screws into the 3/8 thick particle board, and if you don't make sure you're going in exactly at 90 degrees, it will splinter and crack the particle board.
The drawer bottoms are flimsy 1/8 thick cardboard or composite material, and are not suitable for anything heavy.
The drawer rails are plastic, and maybe a little warped, they don't line up perfectly so one end of one drawer will stick out 1-3mm from the one next to it.
Also, inexplicably one set of screws are square-drive ' instead of Phillips. Luckily I have one of these screw drivers. You can use a Phillips, but you will probably strip it.
As far as odor, I was expecting something chemically, but mine actually smells like lumber, so I was pleasantly surprised at that.
Overall, this is not going to be a long-lasting piece of furniture, or even aesthetically pleasing, but it's cheap and it gets the job done. I knew what to expect and am satisfied with the purchase.
